Through utilizing public and proprietary data, Techne plans and places media based on an audience’s media consumption habits, psychographic data, and the effectiveness of an impression.

 

Techne is seeking a Vice President of Business Development to drive revenue growth, expand its client base, and build long-term strategic partnerships within the political, public affairs, and advocacy space. This role is ideal for a highly motivated, entrepreneurial sales leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is energized by building relationships, closing deals, and shaping strategy.  A strong candidate will embody Techne’s core values, bringing curiosity, discipline, integrity, and leadership into every client interaction and internal collaboration. A deep understanding of the public affairs and advocacy landscape, including key stakeholders and buying cycles, is critical to success. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Business Development & Revenue Growth
    • Research and identify new clients and business opportunities with companies, campaigns, and organizations within the political, public affairs, or advocacy space. 
    • Generate sales plans and strategies for prospective clients leveraging a strong understanding of the ad tech and the digital ecosystem. 
    • Build relationships with key decision makers, ensuring a strong pipeline, and provide accurate forecasting and reporting.
  • Client Acquisition & Relationship Management
    • Clearly articulate Techne’s capabilities, technology, and value proposition to prospective clients.
    • Lead the full sales cycle, from prospecting through closing and long-term partnership development.  
    • Expand existing client relationships by uncovering new opportunities for growth. 
  • Strategic Collaboration:
    • Partner with Ad Engineers and internal teams to develop sophisticated advertising and targeting plans for prospective clients. 
    • Translate complex ad tech concepts into clear, compelling client-facing narratives. 
    • Develop thoughtful, data-driven solutions that meet and exceed client objectives.
  • Execution & Client Success
    • Execute strategies to meet financial targets and drive new, incremental revenue opportunities. 
    • Collaborate with the Ad Operations and Account Management teams to ensure seamless execution of client campaigns. 
    • Provide exceptional customer service with quick response times, deliverables, and a keen focus on relationship development.
 

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • 5+ years of experience in direct sales, including prospecting, pitching, closing, and account growth. 
  • Experience working with political campaigns, public affairs firms, or advocacy organizations strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of digital advertising, including DSPs (ex. Google AdWords, Xandr, OneView/Roku, The TradeDesk, etc.) 
  • Familiarity with paid social platforms (ex. Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Rumble, etc.)
  • Experience with audience targeting, segmentation, and performance management.
  • Familiarity with reporting and visualization tools (ex. Datorama, Funnel, Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (GSuite).
